Shodex introduces a powerful application for the analysis of saccharides in non-sugar beverages, utilizing the HILICpak VG-50 2D column with LC/MS detection. This solution enables highly selective separation and quantification of saccharides at very low concentrations, providing reliable support for evaluating products labeled as “non-sugar.”
In this study, a commercial carbonated beverage marketed as non-sugar was analyzed. Using the VG-50 2D column, nine different saccharides—including glucose, lactose, and maltose—were separated with high resolution. The sensitivity of LC/MS detection confirmed that the total saccharide content remained below 0.5 g per 100 mL, validating the non-sugar claim.
