Shodex presents a dedicated application for the simultaneous analysis of monosaccharides and oligosaccharides in beer samples, using the HILICpak VG-50 4E column in HILIC mode with ELSD detection. This polymer-based amino column delivers excellent separation performance, making it possible to profile a wide range of saccharides in a single run.
In this study, commercial beers—including standard, low-malt, sugar-free, and alcohol-free types—were analyzed. With VG-50 4E, both mono- and oligosaccharides such as glucose, maltose, sucrose, and maltooligosaccharides up to maltodecaose were effectively separated. Results demonstrated clear differences in sugar content among the beer types, highlighting the versatility of the column for complex beverage analysis.
The HILICpak VG-50 4E column provides an efficient and reliable solution for laboratories engaged in food and beverage quality control, brewing research, and product development. By enabling precise sugar profiling, Shodex once again offers powerful tools for advancing analytical performance in the beverage industry.
